How long are the classes?

Understanding the 50-minute lesson structure and how we use the remaining time to ensure your progress.
Updated 1 month ago

Timing is everything when it comes to learning a language! While you book your classes in one-hour slots, the live 1-on-1 session with your teacher lasts 50 minutes. Chaque minute compte! (Every minute counts!)

Why 50 Minutes?

We believe 50 minutes is the "Goldilocks" of class lengths: long enough to dive deep into complex grammar and conversation, but short enough to keep your energy and focus at their peak. Think of it as the perfect espresso: concentrated, high-quality, and designed to give you exactly what you need.

What Happens in the Final 10 Minutes?

Even after you log off Zoom, the work for your learning journey continues. The final 10 minutes of the hour are dedicated to behind-the-scenes magic:

  • Teacher Documentation: Your teacher uses this time to record key insights, new vocabulary, and specific learning goals from your session. This ensures that any teacher you book with in the future knows exactly where you left off.

  • Seamless Continuity: Because of these notes, you never have to repeat yourself.

  • Teacher Reset: These 10 minutes allow our teachers to stretch, hydrate, and prepare so they can bring 100% of their energy to their next student.

This structured wrap-up is what allows LingoCulture to offer a truly personalized experience. Your progress is tracked with care and clarity, even when you aren't on the screen!

What About Back-to-Back Classes?

If you decide to book two or more classes in a row with the same teacher, communication is key! Since each "class" is 50 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of wrap-up/break, you and your teacher should agree on how to spend that time. For example, if you book two hours:

  • Option A: Two 50-minute sessions with a 10-minute break in between.

  • Option B: One continuous 100-minute "deep dive" followed by a 20-minute break at the end.

Please discuss your preference with your teacher at the very beginning of your first session. It is important that both you and your teacher feel comfortable and aligned!
