Want to share your learning goals, mention a tricky topic, or just give your teacher a heads-up before class? You absolutely can! Messaging your teacher before class helps them prepare and personalize your lesson. Communiquons! (Let's communicate!)
Why Message Your Teacher?
-
Share what you'd like to focus on (pronunciation, grammar, conversation)
-
Mention topics you're struggling with
-
Request a specific pace (slower for beginners, faster for advanced)
-
Ask to practice for an exam, job interview, or trip
-
Give context about your learning journey so far

What to Write in Your Message
Not sure what to say? Here are some examples:
-
"Hi! This is my first class. I'm a complete beginner (A0 level) and feeling a bit nervous, but excited! I'd love to start with basic introductions and pronunciation. Merci!"
-
"Bonjour! I'd like to focus on the passe compose today. I keep mixing up etre and avoir verbs."
-
"Hello! I'm preparing for my DELF B2 exam in 2 months. Could we practice the oral production section today?"
-
"Hi! I'd love to just have a natural conversation today about travel. I'm planning a trip to Lyon!"
Common Questions About Messaging
Q: Can I write in English or should I write in French?
A: Either is fine! If you want to practice French, go for it.
Q: What if I forget to message before class?
A: No problem! Just mention your goals at the start of class. Your teacher will adjust on the spot.
Q: My teacher hasn't responded to my message. Is that normal?
A: Yes! This message shows on the teacher's platform like a small banner so they cannot really answer this message pre-class.
This is how it looks on the teacher's end:
